Well, if this is not Kid’s Delight, I don’t know what is!
My son, the sceptical one at home when it comes to my cooking/baking, was over the moon when he saw these cupcakes. He didn’t even taste a single slice from the Battenberg cake I made last week, but for this one he was all excited!
In fact I had trouble convincing him to part with a dozen of these (I baked these as a birthday gift to his friend). He was one angry bird at that moment!
I used Wilton Fondant for this. I had white colour fondant and I used gel colours to get the green and red. For brown, the choice was cocoa powder.
I followed the step by step instructions from Instructables.com and it was a cake walk :). I didn’t have black fondant, so used cocoa powder mixed fondant for angry birds eyebrows and nose. Used chocolate chips for eyes and nose for piggy.
For the cupcakes, I followed this recipe for Hot Milk Cupcakes and it turned out to be one of the best cakes ever! It was so soft and spongy. It didn’t turn dry even after keeping in the fridge for a day or two. Let me tell you, the recipe is for here to stay!
On the down side, it had a strong “eggy” smell, because of four eggs. That’s fine by me, though.
This is once again and all pictures, no recipe post.
You can check out the cake recipe here and the step by step angry birds making instructions here.
I got the cupcake gift boxes from Currimbhoys in Anna Nagar and they were just perfect for the job. I am planning to buy some more of these.
